Why do they always need to add "and girls" when talking about protecting women? Girls are already women. Is it to put children in the forefront of readers' minds? Won't somebody please think of the children, et cetera.

It’s to make it EXTRA clear that they’re doing this to defend the poor helpless women, and not because they hate porn or trans people or whatever

This is part of the same big push, right? Make as much "adult" media as possible illegal, but vaguely defined and open to abuse, while also declaring queer media as adult.
