nope! prescott cores didn't have *any* memory controller! that's the secret: the chipset on a socket 478 or lga-775 motherboard was the northbridge that handled all dram and pci/agp/pcie connections, and it connected to the cpu via the front side bus.
if it's the same front side bus for both sockets, and the bios on either motherboard supports prescott, well, why *can't* we put the old pga cpu in the lga motherboard? it's just a matter of wiring!
