I know someone who eats the skins with the rest of the banana (I’m not sure I’d recommend it, but he’s in his nineties so it can’t have done him much harm)

My Mum's cousin Charlie Brown got a banana from his dad coming on a troop ship back from North Africa in the war with rationing - took it to school and got chased around the playground as he ate it - he threw the banana skin on the bike shed roof and the nurchins clambered up and scoffed it
