I’d say instead that the US media has FAAFO’d enough times that they know what they can get away with, and the British media is about to enter a “Find Out” phase that is not their first and won’t be their last. The US media is absolutely this cruel, just more careful about it.

We're talking about the country that published Agatha Christie's novel under the title 'Ten Little N-words' until 1985, so I think this is less a case of not knowing how much they can fuck around than that they think Americans are too sensitive about that word and didn't like WB asking to bleep it.

British press regularly expose themselves as malicious, mendacious serial reprobates and they continue to be rotten to the core.

I think it's mostly because their class roles are more deeply entrenched. More reason to reject capitalism
