Absolutely — in the sense that they never wanted anything to do with these new fangled things.

Until the late 90s, only a small minority of people had really ever used a computer.

There was about a 10-15 year period where we went from primitive computers to iPhones.

For many people around 2000, computers were these clunky things finicky things that geeks used, that were suddenly popping up everywhere.

They were intimidating. Even keyboards — most people couldn't type.

Lots of people just said no thanks...

Fwiw, in 1996, a teacher almost failed me for handing in an essay written on a computer.

Not hand writing it was considered cheating.
