You’re mistaken. You’re talking about a more formal use of English rather than the conversational English I’m using. Context and register is important.

I understand that. I used the character of someone who is unlikeable and gets destroyed in an attempt to convey I don't actually believe that. However, I missed the mark (unlike the artillery squad). Sincere apologies.

My tactic with pedantry on social media is to reply in kind, in the hope that people who enjoy pointing out other people's mistakes will inevitably enjoying having their own mistakes pointed out :)
