I went on a date with a magician who emailed me and said he liked me but was mad I didn’t buy my drink (it was a $5 LIT) and I was like “sorry I’ll pay next time” and he was still angry so I asked if he wanted me to give him the money and he said yes so I asked for his address and mailed him a check

The old rules were: If he asked you out, then he should pay or tell you upfront that it’s a Dutch date. I have no idea what the current rules are.

Tbh I'm a bit disappointed he couldn't pull a few coins out of your ear to pay for his own drink.

I went out with a magician for a bit. First time I saw him perform, I turned to the woman next to me & said I’m gonna let him make my clothes disappear later tonight. 🤣

For my next feat of wonder, I'll ask for a second date, after pouting about a $5 drink so much she paid me back for it by mailing a check rather than see me in person.

....was it anything like SNL's sketch about a dating show where all of the eligible singles are magicians?

What kind of a magician can't conjure up $5 and decent manners

I'm bound to say, with no intention of malice, that I will not drop my guard in the presence of a magician for a SECOND, if only on the principle that anyone who focuses my attention on the hand that isn't doing anything is not my friend.
