This vindictive Trumpian fiasco is, in effect, a tax on people with brains.

I like how this shows the revenue lost. Not equal across all stations. Can identify by your local station or those in greatest need.

Not that I agree with the decision to defund PBS/NPR, but if this is successful it sorta validates their whole point.

I'm already supporting WTMD, a public radio music station. It's an unusual resource; most public radio stations are news only. While news is important, stations that play independent and local music are rare and necessary, at least to me.

Just donated to an 'adopted' PBS station, since my local station receives significantly less funding (as a percentage) from the federal government. IMHO, donating to rural PBS stations - who often rely on PBS for local news - is a priority.

I canceled Paramount+ and added subscriptions to NPR and my local PBS station. It was a purely "financial decision".

I love this resource. I do hope, given some of the locations, that it's made clear to the public around them that these stations were bailed out by caring "blue people" when that's the case. I've had enough with the GOP taking credit for us solving problems they caused.

It looks like the stations in Fresno and Sacramento are losing the most revenue in California

Even though I’m not near them , I might donate to them 💙

My train station was adopted by "The Friends Of L. Ron Hubbard" and people got real upset, so they just... hid the "adopt a station" sign behind the station itself lmao

If we don’t protect our freedoms for religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition, then this administration will definitely take it away, as they seem to be trying already.

I became a monthly sustaining member of WHYY Philadelphia in 2017 when I listened to them while commuting. Started at $10 monthly then doubled that a few years ago. One of the perk choices is a free annual subscription to the NY Times.

My local npr station is also saying this: “Congress has voted to rescind.”

“Congress” did not vote to rescind the money for npr and pbs, republicans did. Republicans did this all on their own

FYI pbs has an excellent streaming service you can get with a donation.

I'm happy to fund broadcasting in blue states.

Red states can whistle for it.

They voted to cut off their nose to own their face...

An option to track viability and support struggling stations in geographic red zones seems like a good idea.

i think the internet while relatively free is doing a great job of bypassing traditional power structures. in the media. because of mesh networks there is always a way. but 70 percent of people turn into camp guards if given the choice. thats the problem.

This is fantastic! I already support my local one and I live in the metropolitan area so the funding is probably not in jeopardy. I was wondering where the most vulnerable stations were

As a retired PD for an award winning jazz station, if you don't keep pub radio supported, we all lose more than NPR programming. Please donate. I promise you every dollar counts .

I don't have a lot of money, but I consistently have contributed to my local PBS & NPR stations. PBS/NPR are my every day sources for national and local news. Soon we will be left with biased Fox not-the-news type networks. Please contribute to keep this real news source alive! #RESIST

Nice, BUT, sorry, the public CANNOT make up the 9 BILLION cut.

We are not that rich.

People already support public TV and Radio via their fundraisers.

It was actually 1.1 billion dollars for a 2 year term. The other 8 billion was for foreign aid.

I admire the concept. But no way in capitalist hell can small donors in the 99% make up for tax dollars when gazillionaires won't pay in. Talk to your local food pantry...

NPR obeyed their big corporate donors, doing the bothsidesism approach and white-washing Orange Turd's craziness... so #FAFO! No, they won't have my money until they take responsibility for that.

This is an appeal to Joan Ganz Cooley (95), one of the founders of Sesame Workshop (was Children's Television Workshop.) Knew her when I was a teenager & cut her lawn. She wrote me 10 college recommendations & had honorary degrees from all of them.
Her 2nd husband Pete Peterson was a billionaire.

I wonder if there’s a way to use conscientious objector laws to withhold your tax dollars to in turn give them to a PBS station directly. @stephruhle.bsky.social @marcelias.bsky.social @tribelaw.bsky.social @muellershewrote.com @joycewhitevance.bsky.social
