I didn't say not to cite case law in a letter. I usually do. I expect recipient to forward letter to their attorney. If person is pro se or I don't know if person is represented I will explain issue, law, harm & also cite the cases. I am always speaking to the court and to the recipient.

LOL. Tell that to the hundreds of attorneys who've written letters to me over the years & to the law professors who taught us all how to write. Tell it to the judges who ask parties if they let the other side know their legal position before bringing the case to court.
