At no point is surgery recommended for any thing not urgent. A back injury may worsen with correction surgery. It's a permanent injury. If it removed infection or malfunction the bennifits are greater than the harm. As a choice it should not exist. Surgery is explicitly injurious.

Surgery is only for emergencies, like when you absolutely need bigger titties or a flatter stomach.

Please be serious, thereโ€™s several entire fields of elective and cosmetic surgery that have little to do with urgent health problems.

We know the risks and are well informed on them by our doctors and therapists and not some dipshit asshole on Bluesky who has absolutely no stake in our right to access the healthcare we need that has been accepted for almost a hundred years up until bad faith scaremongering losers meddled in it

Yeah, the benefits outweigh the minor cost. That's how all medical treatment is done.

Weirdo.

This is hilarious to hear as someone who's trans and has had back surgery that took me from being unable to sit upright for any length of time to resuming normal activity (including my work at the time as a teacher) after about a week's recovery.

There are risks, but oh the potential rewards.

Compare the regret rates

Less than 1% of folks who have gender affirming surgeries report regret.

Just because something works, doesn't mean it's functional.

You're just a concern-trolling hatemonger, you don't get to have any say in conversations about what options should exist for trans people. Fuck you.

when I was 21 I had to decide if I wanted to have invasive brain surgery or possibly have my brain stem severed by my c1 vertebrae crushing it later in life. It wasnโ€™t urgent I had a decade+ before it would have killed me, it would have killed me and also caused immense pain, but again not urgent
