There are a lot of fantastic installments in the franchise in recent years, but my heart will always belong to the 1998 masterpiece. Still waiting for everyone to circle back to this one and give it its deserved renaissance.

This one's my fave too, was my first Godzilla film and being a budding zoo biologist this design to me felt more realistically viable than the super THICC shinto Godzilla shape. This one felt more Animal and less Mascot shaped.

As Godzilla movies go, it's not as bad a "All Monsters Attack", but it's not in the top tier list. Still, Gino does have a place in my heart. (Gino: Godzilla in name only)

I only have 2 complaints with this movie:

1. The monster shouldn't be Godzilla (it was renamed Zilla for most later appearances, but in the movie it's still Godzilla)

2. They should have just let the monster be female instead of trying to justify having the characters still refer to it as male.
