There was, a month ago, exactly one leaf that I might have stretched to buy that was juuuust in my commute range. All the others with more range were too expensive.

NZ needed to have the last few years of lots of EVs coming in to make the second hand market better but too late now.

We'd have about 50k more evs in the country now if they had not

We were still a long way off any meaningful second hand market. The last few years will just delay it further.

Factoring in a new battery that many in that 'cheap' bracket require is also an added expense that most people in that market can't cover.
