Regardless of whether you like Hasan or not he’s big enough that Third Way felt compelled to write a WSJ op-ed about him. Clearly they’re not dismissing him as an online celebrity and neither should anyone else.

Young people (and obviously not just them) spend many hours a day staring at these dumb celebrities on their phones and developing world views based on it. Thats the reality. You can choose to ignore it if you want.

That’s kind of irrelevant to the discussion at hand, as to the rift he is causing in the democrat party and the motives of those attacking him

They wrote an oped because he and his fan base are noxious enough that it’s useful for them to be able to tie progressive politics to his brand to tar it by association. They want everyone to know about him and to think he’s bad so that they can point to AOC or whoever and imply they’re crazy too.

It has nothing to do with how "noxious" they are. It's about finding someone Third Way can lie about, and introduce their lie version of him to the public to poison the well.
