Absolutely wild. Like, I get its a tool like any other, but its not even a good one.

Learning how to find information is so important, and the reason I became so good at trouble shooting and repair work. Half my clients "ask chatgpt" and get nonsense circular answers that are useless.

It’s really not the children’s fault, it’s their community and parents that are failing them

I've really come back to the idea that kids just should only have computer lab, and every other class, pencil & paper & books

no phones
no laptops
no Internet whatsoever

idgaf
the Internet has not made education better
make kids learn how to manually research

it'll suck
but it'll teach process

Some schools have done this, and they have seen an immediate improvement in results

Taxes, Drivers Ed, reading contracts......there is a lot of stuff that's not provided to HS students.

Ai proficiency seems impractical for something that can rapidly change year to year and every much company dependent.

They are so desperate to make AI work without doing the work.

Won't teach them practical life skills, like how to cook, how to maintain health and mental health, actually manage money, navigating your Taxes, Heath care, and such.

But, make sure they know how to us AI.

Calling a bunch of students who have to participate in a city wide plan to teach prompt skills to help them use the tools that will be in place by companies when they are entering the workforce just seems a bit low

worst part is most of these kids won't even be able to understand what was taken from them.

I get that that would be the result years down the line, but I hesitate to call these kids losers because they really don't actually have much of a choice in the matter when it's a graduation requirement.

I would only hope more parents speak up about this and the AI motherfuckery in general.

Remember back in the day when teachers would reinforce things like “you won’t always have a calculator at hand” granted, while most have that readily available now, the point was to reinforce valuable skills. This will just produce a generation of thoughtless AI drones.

I don't even know how to do my taxes out of high school, the fuck anyone needs to know AI to graduate?

What's worse is the district just announced it's anticipated to cut 300-400 educators for 2026-2027 due to "raising costs"....but we have money for AI and paying local cops paid leave while they're under criminal investigations?

Don't teach me how to do my taxes or cook but DO teach me to be as dependent as possible on the robot for every single thought I have.

man this is such a crappy move. i'm all for including AI in the classrooms, but only to inform kids about how harmful it is to cognitive function and intellectual development. teach them how it fucks them over in the long run, dont wantonly endorse widespread use of it

"Mandatory to graduate"

Girl this ai bullshit has only been around for like 4-5 years, and its only been used exclusively for cheating, how the fuck will this help anyone besides bending yourself over supporting a thing that's proven to be massively unhelpful?

AI chat bots are already being plugged into everything. I try to add a page to a confluence doc and now some AI tool is the first option with an icon that misleadingly looks like the create a page. Any conversation into the actual abilities of these tools is shut down by 'this is the future".

So like, in the past keeping people sick, tired, poor, hungry, busy, dumb, etc was the way they would prevent people from fighting back & voting and stuff.

Given studies on the effect of AI usage, feels like the ruling class and mainstream media are hitting hard to keep people dumb.

The logical conclusion to the "no child left behind" philosophy. Leave them all behind so no one person is behind the others.

I sure do love seeing the slow but persistent crawl towards brain atrophy in the children. (/jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkihatethisihatethisihatethis-)

This is such a shame. It's scary that some people are going to be more AI dependent. Gross.

I stand by my theory that the ruling class wants to force AI onto the rest of us to make us easier to control. We don't need to think. We just need to do as we're told. AI as a tool or friend? Now the corpos have a direct line into our brains and can manipulate us to do and feel whatever they want.
