Also, data breach. That happened in October 2025 and they didn't know about until this month.

I'd be interested in more from the reader's side, including discovery, accounts, commenting, sharing, etc. Substack may be terrible, but I don't want a zillion random emails from different niche publishing platforms I have to figure out. One tip is they do have RSS feeds hidden away under "/feed".

I moved @drownedinsound.org to @ghost.org back in 2023. It’s been surprising how many people continue to use the platform bsky.app/profile/drownedinsound.bsky.social/post/3mebwebjcx22u

I’ve heard that @ghost.org & @notdnetwork.bsky.social are both substack replacements.

Assuming you checked out both before moving, why did you go with Ghost? If not would you recommend Ghost to anyone looking to move from SS?

I have looked for better platforms and have resisted substack but they do have the superior products at the moment. What are some good alternatives?

I'm curious: has there been any reporting about whether or not big names paid to use Substack have agreed to contract language prohibiting them from openly criticizing or talking about Substack's Nazi problem?

handy dandy labeler that shows when someone’s newsletter is hosted by Substack: bsky.app/profile/labeler.antisubstack.fyi

an example of how the labeler looks in the feed. so you can have yourself a little cringe every time someone uses a Nazi platform to discourse about how Nazis are bad

I'm grateful for everyone who warned me away from the Substack platform before I got started there.

I don’t understand why people are still using substack.

I have gotten rabid pushback from some progressives when I suggest leaving substack. I am all for repeating this.
