I'm merely asking. She's freelance and they're an org. Does that make a difference?

Regardless, her hypothesis is bullshit. Dopamine hits are completely a thing, and SM doles them out. Research into video gambling showed similar results, this shit is addictive.
Maybe she just doesn't want to admit she has a problem in addition to it being her job to have a problem.

I mean I have voiced that I don't agree with her on that in this thread. I don't think it's as addictive as believed though. I think it's rarer than media hype makes it out to be, much like porn addiction. People can get addicted to all sorts of things. Ever heard of pica?

Being freelance doesn't mean work/life balance stops being a thing. 17 hours leaves at most 7 for sleep, so it sounds like she's getting sleep deprivation while spending every waking hour online.

Most of my screentime is not "online." I edit my videos, sometimes for 9-10 hours at a time, I edit my podcast, I write and report stories, I do a ton of work in Canva. There's a lot to do on a laptop! The music I play to go to sleep also counts as screentime btw since it's playing off my phone :)

True, but it can mean not having people you can delegate tasks to, like research, fact checking, proofreading and so on. Meaning your fact checking and researching would also add to your screen time. Right?

staring at the bad screen at work (my phone) staring at the good screen at home (also my phone)

If you do work from your phone and also use it to relax by watching/listening to videos/music, that can absolutely make sense.
