Right hooks terrify me so much. No amount of skill can defend against them, and you're almost certain to go under, not over, the car.

I think my brain has subconsciously picked up some stuff that drivers do, but like, it's not perfect, and I couldn't tell you what they are.
It's just moments of it screaming "watch out for that car" built on years of close calls.

Yeah, same. I think you learn to pick up those cues. It doesn't negate close calls but at least I'm ready to brake (or yell)

And really, I think all it means is that I'm slightly more ready to brake. Because it certainly hasn't cut down the number of close calls.

Dude almost took me out last year at Water and 114. Missed me by less than 6 inches. If I'd been 2 seconds ahead, I'd have died. Because he did not want to slow down and pass behind me like THE FUCKING LAW REQUIRES.

Nobody ever makes right hooks in front of cement trucks. I wonder why not?
