they were always nice to my previous company during raises though not on the cap table, also I know they employ some really smart people I'm friends with

Bain's whole business model is 1) buy company 2) overload it with debt 3) pay themselves (the C-suite) huge bonuses with said debt 4) declare bankruptcy and lay everyone off.
