Putting the TADC finale in theatres isn’t the folks who make the show taking something from you.

I understand the frustration about inevitably seeing spoilers - but that is something all media contends with when it gets popular enough.

They’re not doing that to you. Anyone boycotting is daft.

Wait there’s people boycotting TADC?

TADC fanbase constantly pulls shit like this, it’s getting so old. Maybe the show ending will get them to leave and find something else to whine about

This is a massive win for indie animation, for indie creators generally.

I really hope folks can see past the initial disappointment that they have to wait and endure potential spoilers and let this be a victory.

Yeah I don't know if I'll be able to see it in theaters, but I'm just so glad the team will get buckets of money for this! All that I'm concerned for! (And the inevitable Gangle Zooble kiss...please...)

Seriously RWBY did this with season 5's premier!

If I could survive not being on the internet when Superman & Iron Lung came out, I can survive not being on the internet to wait if I'm unable to see it in theaters.

This is a massive animation win that should deserve applause.

Fans(at least entitled ones) are an honest to God cancer these days.

It's like I've been saying- Episode 9 getting a theatrical release is both huge for independent animations, and also for re-legitimizing the online creator space given that certain people want really badly for that to go back to being a hobby and Not Real Media

Without a shadow of a doubt TADC will go down as one the greatest indie shows ever made. If not THE greatest.

I very much looking forward to seeing the finale in the movie theater. A fantastic win.

If anyone wants anyone to blame and be mad at it should be at sites like YouTube & the sorts where theres 0 ability to filter your feeds (via muted words / blocked channels or profiles / etc) so you could curate your feeds to make it much easier to avoid spoilers for things

just let a family guy funny moments playlist rock overnight and you’ll have nothing but family guy in your recommended for weeks

The fact that YouTube still doesn’t have these things is insane
It’s been over a decade and no way to filter feeds or even just block someone

I use the muted words system on bsky often and it helps so much for letting me use the site whenever a popular thing im interested comes out. Spoilers can still happen of course but the chances go far down when you have rhe tools to limit exposure!

People are seriously blaming the creative staff for something that the asshole fans are inevitably going to do?

Make that make sense.

this should be a reason for celebration and people are really throwing a fit?

People are mad about this? I'm jealous since I know my theater won't get it. That sounds like a fantastic experience.

Don't lose out on hope! Our local theatre seems to be getting it, and we're not exactly Toronto. Make some noise! It's worked for other locations!

For me it's less about having to wait and more the fact Glitch has said they would release episodes on YouTube before anywhere else. Suddenly releasing the finale in theaters where only some people can get to it, after all the previous episodes have been released on YouTube...

The fact that there’s any controversy at all is frustrating. It’s a bunch of people getting mad and wanting a once in a lifetime event cancelled and ruined for everyone else just because it’s not accommodating to them. That should be laughed out of the room, not getting 100s of likes on BlueSky.

……….. boycotting?

Good fucking grief.

I admit I was a little upset because I assumed it would be US at first but this is genuinely a really cool opportunity. I realized getting upset about it wouldn't do anything pretty quick even before I found out it was coming to Canada.

I feel really bad for the cast and crew who won't hear the end of this shit. I can't even imagine how shitty it must feel to get this really cool opportunity kind of soured by people who can't keep their anger to themselves.

Also I don't get the people who are like "They're so greedy for this"

Actual travesty: I don't have the energy to do political calls AND campaign to the local theater owner in order to get a showing. And I have my priorities straight. so I really am in the arms of fate with this one.

They showed Iron Lung though, so there is hope I get to see it on the big screen yet.

Yeah I seeing this mostly in America side I get movie theaters are far away or expensive over there? In Latin America I see the fans been happy like “wow is like a huge event for the finale!” ..and yeah movie ticket prices are more accessible ^^
I of course happy because indie show goes to cinema!

I greatly depends on the area but in my area I have several theaters in a 10 mile radius and tickets are about $13. Americans mostly just want an excuse to complain.

Wtf people want to boycot one of the biggest 'hell yeah' moments in indie animation? Over spoilers?

Probably not actual people this seems like someone whose been reading too much twitter or YouTube comments.

I've seen nothing but praise from places that aren't fueled by rage bait and hate clicks.

I like that the big screen gives the finale a chance to be more epic. I’m not even a huge fan of the show, but my kids are, and I’m excited for them.

I am going to continue reading calvin and hobbes for the first time and pretend that the internet at large values art and the people that make it

I am going to do that because if people are acting entitled and angry at independent artists, I am going to use my pirate language

Back to being calm….

My only problem is it’s not coming to cinemas in the UK. Other than that, I’m happy for them

People are out here acting like this is some kind of ‘betrayal’, and I really don’t think they have a full appreciation of what that word actually means (or a full appreciation for everything the TADC team and Glitch have done for this show and indie animation).

Bruuuuhhh people are so protective of their shows. I’m gonna go watch it when it goes down cuz it’s such a moment

Agree 100%, this is an amazing opportunity for an indie studio to get access to the distribution of the majors and make (hopefully) good money for the team

If anime fans can avoid spoilers from manga for *years* I think folks can hold out for 2 weeks

oh, it did not click that it was going to be premiering like two weeks before it goes up on the channel. thats kind of weird, but kudos to them for somehow getting this.

It's less that they're putting it in theaters, and more the big gap of time between the releases. Some fans are not in a situation where they can go to a fancy theater to watch it early. The least they can do is move up the YouTube release date. Feels like a slap to the face otherwise.

The idea is so brilliant in that it provides a pretty easy way to gauge the 'interest' of fans in paying for the media directly rather than just merch and passive ad revenue. This IS a new company that is about to lose its tentpole and wants fans to be ENGAGED in its form of content.

If I were an investor, seeing the actual ticket sales for something that is explicitly being said 'THIS WILL BE FREE IN TWO WEEKS' will be a HUGE indicator for the viability of this type of indie animation.

If they want fans to engage then why lock 90% of them out of paying for the movie by only showing it in two places ?

This is the same attitude the toxic fans of Hazbin hotel showed when S2 premired and went on tantrums here because the first 2 eps were going to be shown to a theater audience early.

What is it with these kind of individuals (not the entire fandoms) that act like this?

More stuff from YouTube hitting big screens is good. Iron Lung made some big waves. "A video game movie directed by a YouTuber" wasn't something critics expected to do that well.

The issue isn't being in theaters it's the early release for it. I'm sure whatever deal they signed forced it for money but they made the choice to, as you say, inevitably ruin the finale for tons of people cause it will be horribly spoiled now.

God, Youtube is going to be flooded with bootleg cam footage of the episode... And freaking Twitter... And it will be fans filming it too, for the few views it'll bring them.

Wonder if Glitch considered premiering the episode online at the same time as the first showing, just to cut that problem?

If anything, I feel like doing a theatrical release is giving us something. I get being sad if you cant go but some of the reactions people are having are kind of out there

Why in the fuck are people boycotting??
I've already booked tickets in advance because I want to support this type of rare event.
We're almost going back to the old days when theaters used to have the news or serials. I dont want to see theaters die and I want to see a project like this in theaters
