I think part of what happened to the Team USA guys is that they took it upon themselves to pretend that it was no longer sports—it was akin to war.

So when you do that and you lose, you risk being a poor sport, because you’ve sort of decided sportsmanship doesn’t apply in this case.

I think they’re just jingoistic losers who have zero respect for the rest of the world and I’m just sad they didn’t get eliminated sooner

I have a hunch a lot of their 'tude is informed by the abusive martial tradition of the youth althetics to pro sports pipeline in the US.

But it’s still baseball, and when you can’t be gracious in defeat, you’re still a poor sport. It still counts.

Like, the only thing worse than being grim and joyless and winning is being grim and joyless and losing. And nothing is guaranteed, so just … don’t be grim and joyless!

At any point these meatheads could have looked around, realized that they lost a baseball game to a team that played better than them and be grateful that this year they didn’t have to slog through the full Spring Training. Instead they acted like a bunch of little bitches. Loser behavior

Also worth noting that if you're gonna be "all business" you need to play like it's time to get it done, not get it over with. USA needs to take it seriously on the field no matter what, but it's extremely silly to only have a serious attitude and make such a lazy showing.

I think they don't get why some of us are proud to be Americans, it certainly isn't because of some seal team weirdo still living off of killing a terrorist or any other war shit.
