The point for me is that "resistance to EVs" is overwhelmingly presented as individual luddites not caring about the planet, when it's actually a societal failure to prioritise suitable infrastructure.
Also, better mass transit is a much better solution than EVs.

yes if i could avoid personal car ownership that would be ideal but our transit system is also actively being dismantled and defunded here! i hate driving! hate being in a car!

building out a real transit network that connects 95% of people is going to take at least a couple decades

EVs partially solve one issue right now

also, EVs are pretty great when the tech is applied to busses, or rural train services where electrification wouldn't make sense (electrifying 50 miles of track for 5,000 people is probably never going to be economical)
