I’ve heard arguments that audiobooks don’t count as books because the act of extracting meaning from words is different.
And then video adaptations are not commonly considered literature, no matter how faithful the adaptation.

I’m no expert, just overhearing expert squabbling.

no expert here either, but i think it'd depend on what you're trying to get out of it. audiobooks wouldn't count for building reading skills, but they ABSOLUTELY count for the purpose of conveying a book's information. you can 100% say that you read the book if you finished the audiobook
