The art style makes me think this’ll be more of a straight adaptation of the original manga than the ‘95 movie.

the fuchikoma (pre-SAC version tachikoma) emoted like that sometimes in the manga! It was usually just done in humor shot one-offs so I imagine it'll be that way here too.
