That's just plain old bad preparation tbh, mushrooms should never be prepared as if they're vegetables. They aren't even in the plant kingdom!

Ain't it frustrating how everyone knows this, but the way most people and places cook them is wrong?

The US and most of Europe just isn't a big mushroom eating culture. France knows how to cook them in lots of cream and butter, and that's about it.
