Nothing makes me feel more patriotic than the natural beauty of this country.

I have incredibly mixed feelings about this natural beauty thing. If it's truly "naturally" beautiful, that means a lot of government funding is spent to preserve and protect it. Which means it must be a developed country. Otherwise, those sites of natural beauty will have people living on it.

And here's the kicker. People who actually live in those places, as opposed to tourists or people who visit to admire the natural beauty, almost always are dirt poor and live a terrible life. The kids growing up there usually can't wait to escape those places.

I have been fortunate to travel widely in this country, to 49/50 states, coast to coast. E pluribus unum. Out of many, one. We are one, big beautiful sweet land of liberty. Never pass up an opportunity to rejoice in its diverse and extraordinary wonders. (Acadia Natl Park this weekend)

Agreed. I was in the same spot last week.

Now I’m curious. Why would the natural beauty, which we had nothing to do with, make you patriotic? That said, I understand if you are referring to national or state parks, where we actively try to preserve nature’s wonders for future generations to enjoy and not exploit it.
