The funny thing about this is that the EU already does this, they think of Hungary as their Mexico where they can get cars built on the cheap. The problem is that even in spite of that their economy is stagnant.

The funnier thing is that he promised the same thing for Michigan, and Tennessee, and Georgia, and Iowa, and . . . and it was all pure bunkum.

*and* the EU has frozen €17B in funding for Hungary which would likely be released if Orbán is *not* reelected.

So I guess the question is: do the people of Hungary trust the EU or…
… a lying conman who’s stiffed everyone he knows and isn’t authorized to give 1¢ to Hungary.

Tough call.

It’s like it’s his money to do with as he pleases. All this is infuriating.

Honestly given how having their economy propped up by the EU has made them hate the EU maybe this is the best way to break up the nationalist internationale centered on Orban.

I guess if Canada had an autocratic leader, he'd consider us an ally as well. In fact, same goes for every other NATO & EU country (Erdogan is also his buddy, so he's consistent).

Yeah it turns out unchecked government corruption is bad for an economy. Who knew?

This should play well with the “America first” crowd as well as everyday Americans struggling to make ends meet.

Yup. When the main problem of disaffected voters is "hey, the govt is corrupt and steals the free money", the promise of more free money is not a winning message.

Also, wow, the first time I hear it from an American (correctly) that Hungary is Germany's Mexico. Nice, that's some clear thinking!

What happened to America First? Propping up another communist country isn't the path I want to take as an American.

Proud NEVER Trumper!
