Is this related to Hoi on the Amiga? That little guy that follows you around looks exactly like him. I only know about Hoi because it has an absolutely unhinged final level (flashing lights warning)

According to the article in the quoted post from Games That Weren't, the main character from Hoi was supposed to be in the game as an ally character who followed you around, but ended up getting cut as Moon Child was moved from the Amiga to the PC.
