bring on the Ukraine enlargement, but full EU membership for Canada is a bridge too far - the regulatory frameworks are *very* different and adding Canada would be reinjecting a degree of neoliberalism the EU just doesn’t need!
some kind of Switzerland like affiliation would be great, though

Why do you think it would bring EU backwards? In my experience, as a dual EU and Canadian national who's deeply invested in both, I believe there is sufficient cultural and values based overlap that it makes perfect sense.

not with respect to things like unions, EU social chapter or environmental issues, tuition fees etc.
and who wants Alberta?
I really don’t mean this as disrespect to 🇨🇦 and I think there genuinely is huge value concordance but there also is real difference.
