Swalwell’s lawyer: “The credibility of your accusations is fatally undermined by your voluntary and cooperative relationship with Mr. Swalwell over the course of many years following the period in question.”

Just so everyone knows: that’s not how it works.

Holy fuck the amount of women who do the math and continue to work with/associate with their abusers rather than lose a career path is...a lot

Yeah. Something like this was used to undermine me when I came forward about sexual harassment from a senior director. I needed his support to get promoted. I hate it for us

Just read the CNN story. My God, change the names and locations and those could have been stories of my own “unfortunate” experiences w male bosses, mentors and friends as a young lady in her 20s. Thank God mine occurred before dick pics became a thing. 😭

As an old woman, I just DO NOT understand why/how men send women dick pics. Do women *enjoy* them? I wouldn't think so! Really shocked to read that Swallwell did that (among other horrid things).

it's an instinctive protective strategy - denial is less painful than living with the realisation you were assaulted, you misplaced your trust, you became a victim, now you need to do something about it and face all sorts of hostility, etc. it's also a guars against shame
