One of the lowest stakes conspiracies I believe with 100% conviction is that kernel level anticheat is a placebo to keep players from demanding more effective and hands-on anticheat. A lot of cheating now is subtle and hard to notice without hard data, players probably glance over a lot.

If you scapegoat all Linux users as cheaters and then ban all Linux users, people will praise you for getting rid of all the cheaters because you said so, ignoring all the actual cheating going on because it's so much less visible (especially as killcams fall out of vogue)
