i talk about Murphy because he's the supposedly the gold standard and this is not good enough.

people ask me what i think they should be doing and my honest answer is "they're the fucking professionals, i don't know" but in fact i do have better answers than they do right now, and that's genuinely pitiful

$ is the only thing that matters to the power brokers. It's past time for a general strike or targeted boycotts.

Yeah at the very minimum doing something is the answer. They can't just sit back until there's a strategy with 100% success rate laid in front of them. They need to forget that strategy, they need to try. Not for nothing but there's a chance we never end up here if they adopted that footing 16

There is also the "I'll know it when I see it" and I'm sure not seeing it!

Right? They should be doing politics! It’s their one and only job. Convincing people to do things.

That I, as a rando on the south side of Chicago, have a better idea of what they could do is an incredible indictment of these guys.

They really are just woefully under-qualified for the realities of running a government in crisis. Their greatest skill is winning re-election but they don't know how to do anything else.

I think the longest I was ever in one job was 6 years, but I got pretty good at it. I got things done, pushed through obstacles, etc.

A lot of these feckless incompetents have been in their roles for 30 or more years!

At a bare minimum, the position this guy is elected to has the authority to yank us the hell out of Iran and prevent the president from pursuing this further. Like if we want to quibble over what he personally has Constitutional power to do, the president has to Mother-May-I to Congress every step.

This is how I felt when he said if he was in the Cabinet he'd be researching 25A. Like ok but you're a senator? I know the support for removal in the senate would be less than 50% but does he know what the support would be in the Cabinet? 0%. This isn't someone else's problem to solve! Do politics!

Ted Lieu has repeatedly said (on Twitter, but not on here, sadly) that both federal law & the UCMJ prohibit war crimes, & that the next administration will prosecute anyone who commits them.

Idk whether he's also said so on video anywhere.
