There should be an HMRC team that full time investigates MPs tax affairs.

And the parties should have staff helping MPs keep their finances straight.

This is a basic level of honesty that we should be able to rely on for a group of 650 people running the country.

There should be greater scrutiny for sure but MPs & peers shouldn’t be able to legislate if they’re not tax residents either.

There’s a govt petition that will hopefully soon be open for signatures on this.

Seems that there is no need for this petition as any non-resident taxpayer sitting as an MP or peer is automatically considered a UK tax resident by HMRC for income tax & CGT. This was only made law in 2010 (so I’m just 16yrs late!)
