BTW: The heat shield is, to me, one of the tiny but moving details of Apollo. Built by elderly ladies: they could be trusted to squirt the layers of phenolic resin to honeycomb matrix so carefully that no air bubble or delamination would kill the crew on their fiery return to Earth.
