I do take umbrage with your assessment of nihilism, as a nihilist myself. It's a philosophy that posits everything is meaningless, yes, but only in the sense that meaning is something entirely determined by us as people. Life has no INHERENT meaning, it's up to us to choose what life means.

It's meant to be more empowering, in fact. Life isn't just some test, we're not here for any particular reason, there's no "great mystery" to figure out. We're here because we are, so let's make the most of it and use our time to make cool stuff and be good to each other.
