Just saw this in a chat. And I think I'm gonna wear way more 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ items again.
Don't let them make you afraid. Show them we still stand together. Against them.

That's something I've been meaning to find. An ethical place to purchase an equality flag Pin. Buying one on Amazon feels antithetical to the purpose.

Well, I agree it's a bit of bigotry, however it is still a place where you find a broad variety of stuff fast.
If you don't mind the extra steps you can browse for merch there, then look up the seller and buy frim their own webshop ;)

I'm secure in my masculinity to not care what others think of me. Fucking rainbows are cool as fuck. I could careless what others think of me.

It's always a political statment towards others

Sewing something together quickly makes a lot of difference to those who look around and seek out safety in public.

So let's occupy the public space.
Wear symbols
Stick Queer stickers
Cover up fascist grafitis

Occupy the space, take it!

Thank you. That post is exactly the reason I wear my stuff. Let people know they have allies and there are safe people to be around.

Bluesky is a place of good folks. Amongst all the people reacting to this (I'm humbled btw!) there only was one asshole meaning to act up with 'yeah whatever we accept you now stop showing your damn pride!' and he fittingly had a bunch'o russian flags in his username.
Scream into a void loser lol

I can’t tell from the comments and I’m autistic (serious question):
I am cis hetero, would it be a positive act of solidarity on my part to wear one, like put it on my backpack? Or would that be in poor taste?

I'm not speaking for all queer people but I personally encourage allies to be visible with their support because it makes it less of a signal that you're coming out to non allies. It provides room for someone who feels unsafe to just say they're an ally (around family for example)

You can get “safe with me” type patches/pins, my sister, whos an ally has a few in her ita bag, it just shows people that they’re safe to talk with you if they need to, or again, like this post says, that you stand with them 💚

I think the answer to this highly varies deoending on who you ask.
For me, personally, I don't mind cis hetero people wearing pride items if it's in good faith. Others do think differently and nay prefer you wearing 'cis but queer friendly' items.
As the sticker says, this is about showing support

I'm ace. Aint nobody in my bed. I wear rainbow colors and draw rainbow stuff cause I will always be there for them. I wont stand for people being marginalized out of spite or some misinterpretation of some bronze age book.

I have a Velcro pride flag on my backpack. Been carrying it around for years. Only ever gotten positive compliments from people about it. And they’ve almost always been shy queer people who just felt the need to acknowledge it. I’m never taking it off.

I need to start wearing cute outfits for this reason. I'm currently one of those still too scared to be myself in public. I've been getting better with it slowly.
This is such an important statement. Thank you for sharing this.

I resonate with this so hard. I was in the very hetnormative Utah this last December visiting family, and felt very out of place everywhere I went. Nothing hurtful nor discriminatory was said to me; but seeing the situationally rare pride flag on the house across from our rental… made me feel safe.

My husband said this the other day. That it’s just about showing we’re welcome and safe.

For me it's both. Showing part of my identity AND showing others they are safe and welcome 😌

Keeping my rainbow watch band on for the next four years, my conservative family members can get fucked if they have a problem with it. This is why I wear it.

A bunch of folks cheered for T at a church service back in June (totally missing the point of the sermon, btw) and I've worn rainbows to church every Sunday since. The more bigoted they get, the more visible queer I will become. 🌈

Aye. Also I'm a big guy, even a little buff. Sometimes at work I look intimidating and I need to be.
But I want queer folks to know I may look like a skinhead thug but they're safe with me.
And I also want TERF's, right wingers or anti-queers to know they better keep their mouth shut around me.

You know, this makes a lot of sense, actually.

For some reason I never understood that before. I'd look at people with trans-pins or various rainbow accessories the same way I would to raising the flag of my country in their backyard; "Not a big fan of waving flags around, but more power to you."

Making others feel safe, letting them know that they are not alone. That is a good thing.

That and there's another hidden benefit. It draws the haters out. They react to the rainbow and show they're a hater, and you can respond accordingly.

This has made me decide to actually start wearing pins n such. I’m mostly closeted rn (except for family and friends) but maybe it’s time to change that.

I can only repeat:
Do what feels right for you and what you feel comfortable with.
If you feel like coming out and feel you are in a safe environment and situation to do so, no one should stop you <3
But don't endanger yourself.
Be ready to defend against douches.

I wear most any to every item that may speak as a symbolic jesture merely to show I'm in the group of allies.

I've know pain, I hear you, I see you, I have been misjudged, misunderstood, segregated, demonized, or ostracized for existing. In doing so, I take a risk you live through day by day.

My mother and I talked about this earlier. It is easier to downplay my demisexuality. She is adament about this being a sin and is convinced trans is a mental disorder.

I desire an intimate connection without fear. I just have way too many insecurities to really trust anything or anyone currently.

I wish I could wear one, but I wouldn't feel safe doing it

Don't do it, then. Feeling and BEEING safe is the top priority. Some can't do it, that's why it's even more important that those who can do, do so.
Thus, I'm out there for you, too 💪❤️
