the "doesn't carry a gun. guns are tools of the enemy." trope is just... the hugest manliest masculine big dick energy imaginable. It's the baddest ass of character traits. You never fuck with that guy. It's so cool, it's the coolest.

I just watched an ep where he was solving a case and the department was on him for not going to the gun range in 5 years (turned out to be 10 years) and he was trying to get a buddy to go and sign in for him. Every time theyd come for him he’d wave them away like “can’t you see I’m busy?” Love it.
