There certainly is some need, but the specific amount of need seems quite subjective to me, so I'd rather not engage in unsolicited pedantry the need for which is, in a best case scenario, unclear.

must we know the precise quantum of pedantry needed in order to acknowledge that it is some, that is, more than none? in other words: there is little need, yes. but, we *do* need a little. as a treat.

Surely you do have a point, but to be fully honest, if we abstain from precise knowledge of the required quantum of pedantry, we would be acting against the very principle of pedantry itself, which would turn this entire discussion moot.
