Hold on a moment. She's grabbed hold of something here. We need to seriously investigate where the solar system's light source is. Maybe we should wait until after the sun goes down, and try to spot it.

She isn't THAT wrong: we just had a full moon and moon's now waning, this means, most of the far side is still indeed dark. That original post is misleading, that's not the far side, it's a "side view": far side left, near side right.

The far side of the moon does not have extensive Maria like the near side. I think this is the western lunar hemisphere, the dark patches on the right are Imbrium and Procellarum on the near side. Left hand side of photo shows about half of the far side.

Except that drawing is incorrect. It shows the moon in the New Moon phase, between the Earth and the Sun. The current phase of the moon is a Waning Gibbous. The far side of the moon was approximately 25% illuminated for Artemis. I'm assuming the image sensors used corrected for the rest.

Except that is the position of the moon during a new moon. The Orion was passing by during a gibbous (more than half full) moon so the far side was never fully illuminated. Either these pics are fake or they were taken from another space craft, probably one at the L1 point.

The sun shines on the far side of the moon every "day" - just as it does on the near side.
It is not in fact perpetually dark.
We cannot see the far side from Earth because the moon rotates as does the earth - thereby keeping the "far" side out of our sight.
