Never knew that about the author, thank you for explaining! I do LIKE the poem, it's just that the implied motivation had bugged me, but it makes perfect sense now.

yeah, haha, there’s the way it was written and then the way it’s been folded into cultural understanding and usage …. and the latter is probably more relevant in general but i do think it’s interesting to have the original context and intent

I guess I see the poem as useful for motivating the people who voted for the leopards eating faces party.
We snowflakes are considered too soft by them because we weirdly think all people (and animals etc) matter.
