Did a second viewing change my perspective? Not really. Although the karaoke scene was really good.

Anything that involves the nations working together is hopeful sci-fi, even if the best case scenario is half the world dying. We don’t know how long it takes for taumoeba to establish a colony.

It makes me actually sad to remember what a short time ago how it was standard patriotic fare in American filmmaking that American would come through in the end.

And I’m not even talking about deep thoughtful movies but blockbuster schlock like Independence Day or Armageddon.
