Why does Democratic messaging focus on slopulist policies and money over sound policy and appeals to decency?”

idk but if I had to guess, it’s because voters sent a clear message about which they prefer

I think believing such a clear message was or even can be sent via election outcomes is a profound category error

Yeah, seeing the same people who were complaining 2 years ago about how expensive their burrito taxis were complain now about how slopulism messaging is ridiculous.

Maine is going to choose the Nazi merc over the lady who said she’d see Trump in court over trans rights because Blackwater Boy is better at making monkey noises.

If that's who the Maine Democrats want to represent them in the Senate, so be it. Congrat to Sen. Collins for another term

One of my biggest challenges these last few years is trying not to become an absolute misanthrope, because I just can't see how being so bitter and rueful about anyone (however justified!) is healthy living.

I’d argue it’s also not pragmatic. People can rise to the occasion. They often do. Idk what it would take for Americans to get there at this point. But they’re capable.

If you want a rationalist, egalitarian, open, liberal society I don’t think you get there by trying to out-cynicism the GOP.
