One significant difference between contemporary techbro utopias & those of the sixteenth & seventeenth centuries is that the techbros actually want to make people less educated & less intelligent so that the people can be controlled by them. This is the utopia of sociopaths.

Companies peddling generative AI create technological products that hinder & even reverse cognitive development, making people more open to manipulation. This is a mass-homogenisation event which seeks to flatten out every crinkle that makes human life interesting & worthwhile.

I here use the term "utopia" to describe what for me is an utter hellscape, because utopias depend on points of view, & to these techbros the ideal condition is one where they reign over people like gods. The utopian angle helps us understand how utterly malevolent & dangerous this is.
