I built up an entire science fiction setting in no small part because I could not properly reconcile my love of snuff and gore with my love of the character I made for that purpose.

Someday I'll finish a story in a world where not only is reincarnation real, but memories and personality persist across it such that one's sense of self has continuity across death, and thus there are some people who treat it as a recreational experience to indulge in.
