It's not about passion.

It's about cruelty, impunity, and power.

Their ability to humiliate and traumatize and sometimes ruin us without consequence is proof to them of their power.

That's the thrill they seek with this shit, physical gratification is incidental.

I remember a guy who was dangling a big organizational grant in front of me, and was like, oh my laptop is in my hotel room upstairs, run up with me while I get it.

And I didn't want to be weird about it, I very reluctantly accompanied him and then stood outside the room door

And then, wouldn't you know it, the laptop wouldn't work unless it was plugged in, just come look at this spreadsheet in here.

This was AFTER a lot of #metoo conversations, I was literally remembering a male family member talking about how women ought to know what hotel room invitations mean

If I may add, “without consequence” is key because it extends the dominance to everyone who knows but can’t or doesn’t restrain them. It’s why they do it increasingly openly. Others knowing is part of the power. Taboo victims is part of the power.

Read Johnson’s Soul by Soul to see this in slavery.

@gwensnyder.bsky.social

It’s all about transgression, in every arena.
