The 1973 first Arab oil crisis saw a 25% drop in world oil production. That slowed the whole world economy.
The Persian Gulf produces 20% of world oil production (more of gas).
Shut it and you might expect a downturn 80% as bad as 1973.

At friends yesterday, I saw an ad on Amazon Prime (I think) by the mining lobby talking about how much tax they pay (enough to pay for Medicare, was the slogan).

Don't watch much telly, so wasn't sure if this was old news or they are now reacting to your articles. 😀
