The thing about being JD Vance is that your best chance of being the 2028 nominee is that It Happens and you become president. But if you become president, you can't secretly oppose the war anymore; you have to fight it, or lose it.

That reason is the flimsiest, weakest reason for him to serve the whole term. But, as you say, it's the *only* reason there is. I think we could manage to overcome the "clean slate" angle given the vast benefits to his term ending early. And MAGA doesn't *want* a clean slate.
