Personal headcanon:
Nue in my opinion's an actual alien. Sure, there's the new character of Chimi that calls into question such notion, but everything from her UFO motifs (which may be a reference to the sighting of the Utsuro-bune in 1803) down to the appendages on her back makes me think otherwise
