I've only watched a few streams, I have anxiety around it. And I don't know anything about twitch or how to do things, lol. Took me 15 mins to find the follow button!

I get that it can be daunting, streaming is a lot more personal than something like YouTube, but 90% of streamers absolutely adore new faces!!

Most communities I’ve seen (including my own) are very very welcoming!
Don’t be afraid to say hi!

And then there are artists that leave their discord and are never to be seen again 🀣 that one always make me laugh

Yeah there’s gonna be bots and spammers on every platform, use banned phrases and bots to keep them away :)
They’re not who this post is about.

Preach 🫢

One more reason for that is some folks may find it hard(er) (all the time, or sometimes) to keep up with both chat and the game - and I may or may not be one of them.

I love folks who are in for a chat, but I also appreciate when they'd rather let me focus on the game. Either way, THANKS!

That's great to hear, some definitely feel that way!

But also don't forget that some of us express regret at missing or being late not because we're guilty but because we've missed out, and we enjoy seeing you. Ultimately those reactions are an expression of loyalty and enjoyment.

Oh 100% most viewers/regulars will say it out of courtesy!

But I’ll NEVER expect someone to apologise for it, we kinda realise people have lives outside of watching twitch!

i'm so fucking grateful seeing familiar names dip in and out to say hey despite quitting regular streaming years ago and only streaming once in a while nowadays. always the highlight of my session.

Regular viewers/community members are like family, they really are the highlight of streaming!

Exactly! I'm grateful for even just one person watching my stream even if they're just lurking.
Some people aren't grateful even if they have 100k people watching.
Great words of wisdom!

Yup, this 100% streamers appeiciate you just supporting us when it's convenient to you, streamers are essentially a TV show that you choose to watch, and you choosing us is why we're thankful, but we won't be mad if you don't show up or can't make it.

...And then there are the unapologetic individuals who tend to sit at the top of the charts who would take you to court and make you feel guilty for being minutes late and asking you to pay them for their time. You know, the pathetic inflated heads.

Agreed 1,000%.

Thanks to Twitch though, that watch streak feature makes people feel bad if they miss a stream. That thing needs to go away ASAP.

The streak feature is both a blessing and a curse.

Streamers that actually think their viewers owe them anything at all are just toxic as hell
The fact someone wants to be there listening to someones yapping is enough, anything beyond is a bonus.

I have viewers who apologize for being late and not subbing or chatting. On one hand, it makes me happy that they're invested and care about those things, but I always tell them they don't have to apologize. Just being here is enough.

Yea I only mention if I'm late to a stream if I was looking forward to a stream and got busy doing something else before hopping in
