Social media like Youtube rewarding talentless negative sensationalism is *the* reason why media reviews and journalism suck ass these days.

It is a complete fucking COIN FLIP on whether or not anyone is authentic or just whoring themself out to hyperbole to get boosted.

Utter artistic necrosis.

At the very least, all this dogwater talentless slop is giving me motivation to "be the change [I] want to see in the world" and start making videos of my own.

This feels like it's been the case for a while now...

Real question now is what can people do about it to make a change?

Enough people not engaging with obvious ragebait content is the only practical solution, I feel.

But...that's never gonna happen.

It really does feel like they are exploiting a cheat code to fast success because to them who cares who watches you for being negative, it gives attention and that attention feeds the algorithms. I saw that alot on Twitter too, where people wouldn't even read tweets, just try to QRT and dunk 24/7

True it's why I really hate grifter type channels. It always feels like they are the fast food of video essays because they only critique that's getting the most negative clicks. Don't believe me look at all those Hellaverse essays and get over 1000 views from channels that usually get like 10 views

All their negativity accomplishes is gaining them attention. We as people tend to be entranced by bad stuff so when someone writes about it, we draw our gaze to it. It doesn’t matter if it’s bad practice because that’s not why they’re writing, their end goal is always attention.
