I guess the answer there would be “what job do you want these kids to be able to do?”

Do you want them to be able to think critically and express those thoughts in writing, or do you want them to ask a computer to give them an approximation of that that will be riddled with factual errors?

Rather, im worried we have been telling students "come to university here, you get to move actual crates around actual warehouses", comforting ourselves that it's fine because it will make them strong as a byproduct.

Then we are upset when students don't see why they shouldn't use a forklift.
